How the Czech price is set
Czechia is a single bidding zone; the day-ahead market is organised by the market operator OTE and coupled with the rest of Europe, with 96 quarter-hour prices per day since 1 October 2025.
Spot-price contracts pass this price on, plus the supplier's mark-up. Regulated distribution charges – which depend on the distribution tariff and on whether you are supplied by ČEZ Distribuce, EG.D or PREdistribuce – system services, the renewables contribution, electricity tax and 21% VAT come on top. Tariffs with a low-rate period, used for storage heating or heat pumps, have cheaper distribution when the grid operator switches the ripple-control signal.
Our final price uses the most common single-rate tariff D 02d: the 2026 distribution price of the operator you choose (ČEZ Distribuce CZK 2,078.58, EG.D CZK 2,295.34, PREdistribuce CZK 1,516.53 per MWh), system services (CZK 164.24 per MWh), electricity tax (CZK 28.30 per MWh), a sample supplier margin of CZK 0.40 per kWh and 21% VAT. Since 1 January 2026 households no longer pay the renewables contribution – the state covers it. Monthly breaker charges are not included.
